Indicators FAQ
Can an indicator place orders?
No. An indicator draws and reports values. Importing or calling any order, account or context function in an indicator file is refused when it loads. See write an indicator.
Why are the first values empty?
The indicator is in its warm-up and has not seen enough bars. Those values are NaN on purpose. See warm-up.
Can an indicator use a slower timeframe?
Yes. Declare the series, for example h4 = fg.Data(timeframe="H4"). Its values appear only after its own bar has closed, as with every other series.
How many outputs can one indicator have?
Up to 64. Each one is read by its name.
Does my indicator repaint?
A value that changes after its bar has closed is repainting. Forge computes on closed bars, and an indicator that redraws its past is marked as doing so. See repainting and look-ahead.
Can I bring an MQL5 indicator?
The Indicators screen in Oathra can convert one you own, and the MQL5 traps list what usually needs a second look.
