Levels
The latest level is Forge API 1. Supported levels: 1.
A script names its level on its first lines and Forge reads it at that level. A file with no level is refused, never read as the oldest. See Forge API levels.
Soft and hard deprecation
A soft deprecation steers. The name's reference page adds a line that says what to prefer, and nothing warns.
A hard deprecation warns. The name's reference page opens with a banner that gives the level it was deprecated in, what to use instead and the level it stops working in.
Warnings in your code. A script that uses a deprecated name is warned at the line where it uses it.
How you are told
Every change that can affect published code is in the changelog, with a feed. A level that stops working is announced there with its date.
