# Morning star

`morning_star`

A long fall, a small star, then a rise into the fall.

## Inputs

| Name | Type | Default | Range |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| long_body_pct | float | 50 | 0 to 100 |
| star_body_pct | float | 30 | 0 to 100 |
| penetration | float | 0.3 | 0 to 1 |

## Outputs

| Name | Kind |
| --- | --- |
| morning_star | event |

Warm-up: 2 bars (2 at the defaults).

Repaints: No.

## Formula

body = |close - open|, range = high - low, upper wick = high - max(open, close), lower wick = min(open, close) - low

the first bar falls with a long body; the star's body <= star_body_pct / 100 * the first body and its top <= the first close; the third bar rises and closes at or above first close + penetration * first body. The star may open at the first close: no gap is required.

A bar whose high equals its low, or that has a missing price, is never part of a pattern. Computed on the prices the bars are drawn with: on Heikin-Ashi or Renko bars those are the built candles.
