# Check your code

A Forge file is checked in three places.

## 1. In the editor

The Problems panel lists syntax mistakes as you type, and nothing else. **Format** tidies the file.

## 2. On every saved version of a project

Forge checks each version you save. The status line reads **Version 1 passed its checks.**, with the version's own number, or lists what it found.

## 3. On every file you upload to Forge

The Strategy card checks the file before it can be chosen.

## What the checks look for

- [Lint rules](https://oathra.dev/reference/lint-rules) lists what the checker flags, with the message for each.
- [Repainting and look-ahead](https://oathra.dev/docs/concepts/repainting-and-look-ahead) and [Warm-up](https://oathra.dev/docs/concepts/warm-up) are the two concepts the checks look for.
